Gala Luncheon a Big Hit!
Thank You to all of our sponsors, donors, volunteers and attendees!

On Saturday, March 19th 2016 an enthusiastic crowd enjoyed remarks by Guest Speaker Dr. Joycelyn Elders - U.S. Surgeon General 1993-1994 at our Heroines, Pioneers, and Trailblazers Gala Luncheon.

Hosted by Honorary Chairs San Diego AIDS Memorial Committee Co-chair Katherine Stuart Falconer, City Commissioner Nicole Murray-Ramirez, CA Assembly Speaker Toni Atkins and Jennifer LeSar the event featured a silent auction, delicious lunch and a presentation celebrating the "ordinary" women (lesbian, trans*, and straight) who stepped up and did extraordinary things in the difficult early days of HIV/AIDS in San Diego and Tijuana.

These heroic women were honored for their hard work, compassion and visionary leadership. Their stories are part of a compelling yet under-recognized chapter in our history.

You can help keep their stories alive by supporting Lambda Archives as a volunteer or donor. Any amount is put to good use. Make a donation today.

2/23/16 Remembering Bill BeckBill Beck

We sadly lost a pioneer today with the passing of Bill Beck.

Bill was a lion and a visionary. He saw that in order to break through the "lavender ceiling" and claim an LGBT seat at the table of public policy and governance, we not only needed the right candidate, but we needed to fully fund a campaign. Bill truly worked tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure that we did just that. Trailblazers Christine Kehoe and Bonnie Dumanis will doubtless tell you that Bill is in large part responsible for their successful campaigns to elective office. And ever since, we have had the distinction of having openly LGBT elected officials represent San Diego. That will always be a part of Bill's legacy.

Learn more about Bill on his 2011 Trailblazer award page.

We send our deepest sympathies to David Huskey, Bill's husband, partner, and supporter. - Lambda Board, Staff and Volunteers.

We mourn the loss of one of San Diego's LGBT
pioneers and trailblazers, Dr. Al Best.
He died last week and is survived by his beloved Eduardo Moncada.
A community Celebration of Life will be held on
Sunday June 28th at 2 pm at the Center
for all to honor and remember him.
He was a 2007 Honoree for the Wall of Honor.
