HISTORY/REMARKS

In 1989, Councilman Bob Filner formed the Gay/lesbian Advisory Committee. Their first task was the creation of a Human Dignity Ordinance to ban gay discrimination in San Diego. The ordinance was approved 8 to 1 by a City Council vote on April 3,1990 and took effect on May 16, 1990.
